The best flight-tracking app just introduced a new feature to help you figure out if you have enough time to make your next flight.

Flighty Pro has been our favorite travel app since it rolled out a few years ago, and recent updates have made us double down on that claim. The latest version of Flighty Pro, the paid version of the Flighty app, went live this week with even more great information for flyers – even if that information might be stress-inducing.

Flighty's new “Connection Assistant” feature shows travelers how much time they have between flights and if that connection time is “relaxed”, “normal”, “tight”, or “risky” based on historical data trends.

The latest version of the app will also show both your arrival gate and your departure gate on a map to help you navigate your way through the terminal as well.

Finally, if you have delays affecting the timing of your journey, Flighty will send you its always-helpful push alerts to keep you apprised of the latest developments.

So far, the update looks to offer exceptionally detailed data – no surprise coming from the folks at Flighty. For instance, my flight this evening has an extremely long 7-plus-hour layover in Hong Kong. According to Flighty, that's a “relaxed” connection.

But when I look out into my future trips, I found one that isn't so relaxed.

This 95-minute international-to-domestic connection at Miami (MIA) has the number crunchers at Flighty slightly concerned for my ability to make it (but little do they know that I'm an Olympic-level airport speed walker).

For the first time on Flighty, you can actually tap that “Tight” icon and it takes you to more information about the connection, too.

According to Flighty, my 95-minute connection is the suggested minimum, but what does that mean? Well, if you click the down arrow next to the short explanation above, it takes you to a full explanation of what is called the Minimum Connection Time (MCT) at each airport.

And while this MCT is probably going to work for me this time, I have another coworker who is a little stressed out about his after seeing his upcoming connection in Dallas (DFW).

Risky connection on Flighty Pro

He won't know exactly what he's in for until the day of travel when American Airlines will determine his gate numbers, but for now, Flighty Pro is at least designating his itinerary as “Risky.”

Bottom Line

Flighty Pro's new Connection Assistant feature uses connection time data and real-time mapping to help travelers navigate their tight connecting itineraries.

With new alerts and designations for “relaxed”, “normal”, “tight” or “risky” connections, travelers have even more data to use when flying with Flighty Pro.
