Amazon Prime Day is just weeks away, and American Express just added a great new Amex Offer to help you earn some extra Membership Rewards points on your purchases.
Spend $100 with Amazon on your eligible Amex card and you'll earn 500 bonus Membership Rewards points. And you can do it three times, racking up 1,500 Amex points for $300-plus in purchases.
Amex Offers like this one are targeted, so not everyone will see them in their accounts. And you need an American Express card like *amex platinum* or the *amex gold* that earns Membership Rewards points. A co-branded Delta or Hilton card won't cut it.
If you haven't used Amex Offers before, think of them as digital coupons exclusively for Amex cardholders for purchases like airfare or hotels as well as dining, entertainment, or everyday shopping. Add one of these to your Amex card, use that card to make an eligible purchase, and Amex will give you money right back for the discount within a few days as a statement credit on your account.
Although we've seen more rewarding Amex offers for Amazon in the past, it's great that you can use this one three times to earn up to 1,500 points. And you shouldn't need to spend $100 or $300 in one fell swoop: A handful of charges that add up to that threshold should trigger your bonus points.
This Amex Offer doesn't expire until Aug. 30, so you've got time to put it to use – including over Amazon Prime Day(s) on July 16 and July 17. But we often see Amex pull these offers quickly, so check your Amex card and add it ASAP if you see it.
Want to save big while you earn bonus points? You may be able stack this offer with a big discount by applying just 1 Amex Membership Reward point to your cart to save up to $80. Just keep in mind that any discount you get from applying points will reduce how much you're charging to your Amex card.
Where to Find Amex Offers
If you haven’t used Amex Offers before, simply log into your American Express account and scroll down near the bottom of the screen and there should be a box called Amex Offers & Benefits. It’s available through the Amex mobile app as well.
If you see an offer you like, simply add the offer to the card and make a qualifying purchase at that business with your card. In this case, you’ll need to buy directly from Amazon for the cashback credits to kick in.
You should receive the bonus points within a few days of making a purchase, though in some cases it can take several weeks. And keep in mind you don’t need to hit the spending threshold in one shot – you can spread it out over several transactions.

Bottom Line
This is a great way to earn some bonus points on your upcoming Amazon shopping.
If you see it in your account, add this offer to your cards now before it disappears – and make your Amazon purchases before Aug. 30 to get those bonus points!
Wow thank you for answering my question. I thought it was just $200+ in ONE transaction but I had like $150 charge, then a few other charges that went over $200. I thought I wouldn’t get credit for it. But regardless, I feel like I should be credited no matter how you slice the $200 cause its all the same.
are travel cards really any better than just having a visa card that gives you 1%, and I just cash in the money each year
If you plan to travel, you’ll simply get more value out of points than getting straight cash back.
