Tulum is opening its own airport soon, letting you skip the 90-minute drive from Cancún (CUN) and head straight for this charming resort town. Why not step off the plane and head to a brand-new all-inclusive resort booked with points, too?
We're seeing wide-open award availability to book the new, adults-only Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club from December all the way through mid-October 2024, using as few as 17,000 Hyatt points per night. It's the newest all-inclusive property in Hyatt's growing portfolio and a stellar way to use Hyatt points – or even transfer some Chase points from cards like the *chase sapphire preferred*.
Nothing beats staying, eating, and drinking in Mexico for a few days (or a week) in the winter, spending less than you would at home in the cold, right?
Fair warning: Secrets Tulum just opened its doors earlier this month and things are … not going well to start. Brand-new properties always have issues, but initial reviews suggest the resort simply wasn't ready to open: Basics like pools, elevators, and even hot water weren't functioning.
But with any luck, construction should be done and the opening-month kinks should be worked out by the end of the year at the latest, so a stay at Secrets Tulum in 2024 should be a safe bet. If not, Hyatt allows you to cancel and get your points back so long as you cancel more than three days before arrival.
The Secrets Tulum is one of Hyatt's Category B all-inclusive properties … which means you can book a standard stay for just 20,000 points per night. Thanks to Hyatt's peak- and off-peak pricing, nightly rates can go as low as 17,000 points per night or as high as 23,000 points nightly. You'll see a smattering of dates bookable at 17,000 points per night, while stays during the busiest period from January through much of April will cost you 23,000 points a night.
But with this much availability, you shouldn't have much trouble locking in a few days or more for a trip to Tulum using World of Hyatt points. And it's a fantastic way to use them: Hyatt is charging $500 to $900 or more a night for these rooms!
And remember, when you book with points, almost everything is covered at this all-inclusive property: your room, your food, your drinks, activities – you name it, it's included. Just bring cash for tips and you're set.
Plus, it's not 17,000 to 23,000 points per person: That nightly rate is good for two – although you can tack on as much as 11,500 points per night for each additional guest beyond that. But beware that Secrets Tulum is an adults-only resort, so children under 18 aren't allowed.
Secrets properties are easily among the best in Hyatt's growing Inclusive Collection, and this new Tulum Secrets resort looks like it should be a real stunner from initial renderings. In total, the property has 300 rooms – all of them suites – and 10 different dining concepts as well as beachside bars.
The property is located in Tulum's hotel zone away from the beach, but the resort also boasts a dedicated beach club offsite on the coast – with free shuttle service to get there and back. It's also just a short drive away from Tulum's Mayan ruins, a must-visit if you haven't made it there already.
Don't have the Hyatt points you need to book a stay here? No problem: Hyatt is a Chase transfer partner – and if you ask us, it's one of the best. That means you can transfer 80,000 points from cards like the *chase sapphire preferred*, the *chase sapphire reserve*, or even business cards like *chase ink preferred* and get enough Hyatt points for up to four nights at Secrets Tulum.
If you're earning Bilt Rewards points by paying rent (or swiping a *bilt rewards card* ), you can also transfer those points to Hyatt on a 1:1 basis.

Bottom Line
The brand-new Secrets Tulum Resort & Beach Club is officially open, and it's easy to lock in a stay next year using World of Hyatt points – and not many of them!
Award rates start as low as just 17,000 points per night, which is a fantastic way to use your Hyatt (or Chase) points. There have been some serious snafus in the first few weeks since this Tulum resort opened, but it should be safe to book a stay for a winter getaway next year.
I just checked and it basically states that this property is not available to booked with points. I searched for next year for April 2024.
Nevermind, the dates that I choose were not available.
