When it comes to flying within the good ol' U.S. of A, you may not need a lie-flat seat … but it sure would be nice, especially for those longer domestic flights. And you can often book them for the same price as a standard first class recliner – and a fraction of those long-haul flights overseas.
Finding the routes where you can find those lie-flat seats flying within the U.S., though, can be tricky. Widebody planes equipped with fully-fledged business class seats are a fixture on some flights out to Hawaii and many marquee transcontinental routes, like between New York City (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) or Newark (EWR) and San Francisco (SFO). Almost anywhere else, it's a crapshoot … unless, say, your favorite travel website hunted down every single lie-flat route in the United States from August through June 30, 2025 and put that entire list all in one place for you!
With the help of tons of data from aviation analytics firm Cirium and analyzing other airline schedules, we hunted down every single route with lie-flat seats you can book over the next 11 months. The results were amazing – and also surprising.
Sure, there are those ultra-long flights from the East Coast to Hawaii, like Delta's and Hawaiian Airlines' nonstops from Boston (BOS) to Honolulu (HNL) – the longest domestic flight, period. Lie-flat suites like these are practically essential for that 11-hour flight.
But then there are truly random routes where lie-flat seats criss-cross their way across the country, including to and from smaller cities like Cincinnati (CVG), Indianapolis (IND), Kansas City (MCI), and Milwaukee (MKE). And there's one day (and one day only) in late October 2024 where you'll find more planes equipped with business class seats than any other day on the calendar.
Grain of salt, though: These routes are all subject to change. Airlines regularly readjust their schedules and swap aircraft in and out, particularly once you look more than a few months out. And just because you see an airline offers lie-flat seats flying between New York City and Los Angeles between doesn't mean every single flight has them – you might need to pick just one or two of the eight-plus frequencies operated on a plane with business class seats onboard.

American Flagship Business Class
American Airlines business class is a great way to fly all over the world thanks to American's vast network. But nowhere is their network bigger than here at home.
American operates the most domestic flights in the U.S.. They also fly more planed equipped with lie-flat seats like these than almost any of their competitors.
As is the case with most airlines on this list, you're most likely to find lie-flat seats on flights to Hawaii (the longest domestic flights of American's network). And it's not impossible to find a great deal on those lie-flat seats, either – especially if you've got points and miles.
It's much harder on other airlines, but we find American Airlines business class seats bookable with points all the time for our Thrifty Traveler Premium members.
Elsewhere, some of the airline's transcontinental flights can also go on sale. New York (JFK) is one of the best airports for finding domestic flights with lie-flat seats onboard. Better yet, the competition between airlines in the New York area is so fierce that prices can dip to awesome lows like these.

Delta One Business Class
Delta One business class is one of the most sought-after business class seats in the sky, and Delta isfairly liberal about flying planes with lie-flat seats in and around the United States, too.
But as frequent Delta flyers know, not all Delta One seats are created equal. You'll find a hodge-podge of Delta One offerings – from downright ancient to sparkling new suites – on flights from hour-to-hour on some routes.
For the fanciest Delta One Suites, for example, you're going to want to aim for A330-900neos or A350s for the best ride.
If you fly an A330-200 or A330-300, you might fly the older, less fancy Delta One seat. And the seats you'll find on Boeing 767-300s are even worse.

Despite the inconsistency up front, Delta One seats are not terribly hard to find flying in and around the U.S. And good deals on Delta One flights aren't impossible to find, either: These cross-country routes were available for less than $1,200 roundtrip, for example.
And for the super-short Delta One routes, like from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Detroit (DTW), fares are often priced just like regular first class recliner seats. You won't find a cheaper way to try out Delta One suites than this.
But for that exact same flight, you could also book for just 19,000 Air France/KLM Flying Blue miles – which you can transfer from all the major credit card companies like Chase, American Express, and Capital One – and just a few bucks in taxes and fees.
Less than two hours may not be enough to reap the full benefits of a Delta One Suite … but if it's on your wish list, that's as good as it gets.

Hawaii is the number one destination for our Thrifty Traveler readers and subscribers, and we make a point of finding the best and comfiest ways to get them there. Let's put the emphasis on comfort for a little bit by highlighting the first class offerings of Hawaiian Airlines.
Hawaiian's fleet of A330-200s have long ferried travelers to and from the islands in the airline's old first class seats. The seats lay flat, and are plenty comfortable. But the airline upped the ante in 2024, introducing its new 787-9 Dreamliners with a luxurious new first class suite.

But there's a better way to book these suites: Use your points instead.
You can book these Hawaiian First Class seats for as few as 40,000 Hawaiian points, which you can transfer to the airline from banks like American Express and Bilt. You can also book for the same rate through Virgin Atlantic Flying Club – and while it'll require a phone call to do so, the upside is that regular 30% transfer bonuses can make it even cheaper!
And that goes for flights on the 787-9 or the older A330s. Either way, you've got a lie-flat ride to Hawaii on any of these routes.

JetBlue Mint Business Class
When JetBlue launched its Mint Business Class across its A321 airplanes, it quickly became one of the best ways to fly up front in the United States. Nothing has changed.
Whether you fly it at home or abroad, Mint is different. JetBlue offers a lie-flat seat that ditches the cookie-cutter business class experienced offered by other airlines. The food and service, in particular, are second to none.
Most of the JetBlue Mint seats you'll find flying within the United States are the older version, which we flew a few years ago.
You can find the incredible JetBlue Mint Suites on a select-few routes, too, though.
And finding a cheap way to fly one or both of these seats doesn't have to break the bank, either. JetBlue regularly slashes prices on its transcontinental routes, even flying up front in lie-flat seats.
This transcontinental flight – including a red-eye, overnight flight on the way home – would be well, well worth the $989 JetBlue is asking for here, if you ask me.

United Polaris Business Class
United Polaris Business Class is easily one of the best business class seats you'll find in U.S. airspace.
Like Delta, not all of United's business class seats are created equal. But unlike Delta, United has a much more-uniform product from plane-to-plane. Still, beware of the few (super old) 777-200s which offer a very old business class arrangement. It's comfortable and it's still lie-flat, but it's nowhere near as nice as these Polaris seats.
Polaris flights are lovely, but great deals on United Business Class flights can be harder to find than other airlines on this list. But on routes like Newark (EWR) to San Juan (SJU), you can occasionally snag some really great rates.

It marks the shifting of seasons for airlines across the globe.
Airlines don't follow the same calendar as us mere mortals: They follow a calendar set by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) with just two seasons, summer and winter. And guess when the winter season begins for airlines this year?
