Hyatt is back again with another move to solidify the brand's global standing as the leading hotel chain for luxury all-inclusive resorts.

On Monday, Hyatt announced a 50/50 joint venture with Spanish company Grupo Piñero to own and manage the entire Bahia Principe brand of all-inclusive resorts. With the new deal, the hotel chain is slated to add 23 resorts – and over 12,000 rooms – to its all-inclusive portfolio, a room growth of approximately 30%. The latest addition includes destinations across the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, and Spain.

Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts is expected to join World of Hyatt at a later date. This will give members more opportunities to earn and redeem Hyatt points for free nights and offer loyalty benefits with stays at Bahia Principe properties.

If history has taught us anything, it will be best to book these properties early if you're hoping to use World of Hyatt points. Time and time again, all-inclusive resorts have been among the hardest hit with Hyatt's annual award chart reshuffling.

Like previous acquisitions and partnerships, it's clear this move is intended to grow Hyatt's all-inclusive footprint quickly. Hyatt's President and Chief Executive Officer, Mark Hoplamazian said, “The addition of Bahia Principe’s resorts to Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection will enhance Hyatt’s all-inclusive offering and strengthen our leadership position with one of the largest collections of all-inclusive resorts in the world.”

From Grupo Piñero's perspective, the proceeds from this transaction will be used to enhance existing Bahia Principe properties. This is great news as most Bahia Principe properties get good reviews, but the rooms tend to be a bit dates – especially when compared to other all-inclusive brands like Hyatt's Ziva and Zilara.

While an official date for this new partnership has not been announced, the transaction is expected to close in the coming months.
